Fishery Department                    

Objectives :-

a.  Support and advice Government of Assam on Fishery Policy

b.  Implementation of Fishery related schemes of the Government of Assam and Government of India

c.  Identify, promote and conduct research studies on fisheries and fishery related areas so as to further the mission of the Directorate

d.  Collate, compile, analyze and make available adequate / relevant statistical and other information to promote fish farming and related industries /activities

e.  Prepare / Support in preparation / Vet Project Reports and Proposals related to Fisheries and fishery related industries.

f.   Extension services to Fish farmers and fishery entrepreneurs for --

(a)     Guidance for pond / tank construction and repair

(b)     Water analysis and treatment advice

(c)     Technical guidance

(d)     Disease control guidance and support

(e)     Fishery management guidelines.
